Google bugs abused by Phishers

Google’s Gmail service suffers from security flaws that make it trivial for attackers to create authentic-looking spoof pages that steal users’ login credentials, a security expert has demonstrated. Google Calendar and other sensitive Google services are susceptible to similar tampering.

BBC News has learned that the nearly two-hour long blackout was almost certainly connected to Pakistan Telecom and internet service provider PCCW.

The country ordered ISPs to block the video-sharing website because of content deemed offensive to Islam.
"The BBC News website’s technology editor, Darren Waters, says that to block Pakistan’s citizens from accessing YouTube it is believed Pakistan Telecom "hijacked" the web server address of the popular video site.


Google starts privacy invasion!

"SAN FRANCISCO - Google Inc. will begin storing the medical records of a few thousand people as it tests a long-awaited health service that’s likely to raise more concerns about the volume of sensitive information entrusted to the Internet search leader.
The pilot project to be announced Thursday will involve 1,500 to 10,000 patients at the Cleveland Clinic who volunteered to an electronic transfer of their personal health records so they can be retrieved through Google’s new service, which won’t be open to the general public.

Each health profile, including information about prescriptions, allergies and medical histories, will be protected by a password that’s also required to use other Google services such as e-mail and personalized search tools.


Domain name squatter wants job at Google

That’s the first line of an open letter posted on adwordsgoogle.de, docsgoogle.de, labsgoogle.de, and five other domain names. The sites’ owner and letter’s author, German IT guy Sebastian Klein, wants to give his domains to Google… in exchange for a job!

Google have revealed software it hopes will power a variety of future mobile phones and boost mobile internet usage. This could result in cheaper phones for consumers as the software has been designed to speed up the process of making mobile services.

Google also announced it has been working with mobile maufacturers Samsung, HTC, Motorola and LG, with the first phones using the so-called Google “software stack” being available in the second half of 2008.
